| Description |
Bringing the dynamic, engaging community aspect of Flickr to the corporate, professional-centric environment of Getty, the Flickr collection presents a new way of exploring a photo collection to the user. Selections are shown as clusters of images called clouds which the user may create after creating a free login on the site. A public view parades the most recently created clouds, allowing the user to select and spin clouds on demand to view the content in more detail. It is also possible to subscribe to other users and view their latest creations by visiting the private section of the application.
This site is built in Flash 9 (AS3) and interacts with the Getty services via a custom javascript interface. All communication happens asynchronously via AJAX so that the user is left waiting as little as possible. Dynamic throttling ensures that the frame rate experienced by the user is high enough to be enjoyable, otherwise features are removed gracefully to reduce CPU load. |
